Contemporary Abstract Artist
Carolyn Grady grew up on the New Jersey shore. She spent her high school years writing poetry and spending time in the art studio with her friends. She became a poet, modeling herself after the Beats, who were street poets and largely self-taught. To support herself, she attended Seattle University and became a Montessori teacher, teaching in NYC for several years.
Her education in visual art began when studying with Alberto Rey and Raymond Bonilla at SUNY Fredonia. She learned traditional techniques, creating portraits, interiors, and landscapes. Now living in Albuquerque, she is inspired by the vistas of sky and landscape and focus on painting intuitive abstraction in oil, acrylic and mixed media, she finds the act of painting is the deepest form of meditation she has ever experienced.
