Nicole Kurland
Contemporary Abstract Artist
Nicole Kurland was born and raised in New York City. As a child she attended art classes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and attended High School of Music & Art in Harlem. As an adult, she attended art classes at The Art Students League, Hunter College, and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
After visiting and falling in love with New Mexico, Nicole relocated to Corrales, where she has resided for the past 30 years, and began a career in graphic design, working as the Art Director for the College of Santa Fe, a Graphic Designer for Indian Artist magazine and local advertising agencies, as well as managing her own graphic design business. Nicole also enjoyed teaching high school students film and graphic design until her retirement in 2020. Graphic design influences sometimes work their way into her abstract paintings and drawings. She loves abstraction for the freedom of expression it allows, and the mystery of the creative process.
